H54F!!!

H54F!!!

Hello Friday, so nice to see you again!!! It's been another one of those weeks filled with absolute and utter craziness!!! But, we made it through didn't we Friday? And, even picked up a few totally awesome moments along the way...

1. Been needing a new pair of tennis shoes nasty style (the last new pair that I
bought was in 2009), so I treated myself (mostly with birthday gift cards,
coupons, and discounts) to a brand new pair of NIKE kicks. Can't wait to try
    them out Zumba-ing!!!

2. Went and saw the new Alex Pettyfer movie Endless Love with a friend of mine
this past weekend. I am sooo NOT one for chick flicks, but it was super cute.
    I'd definitely see it again.

3. Hit up a local college's playhouse with another friend of mine on Sunday to
see the college's adaption of All New People by Zach Braff and had a blast.
The play is a little risqué, but totally Braff all the way.

4. Made this for our Seusstastical Story Time next week to celebrate Dr. Seuss's
birthday. During my weekend getaway to see my fam in Georgia a couple
weeks ago, I had the idea to deck out our story time room with Dr. Seuss
memorabilia and the focus was this sign from Marvin K. Mooney Will You
Please Go Now! I think it turned out pretty good considering my serious lack
of drawing ability (the little bro got that skill).

5. Lastly, took this pic on Tuesday during my lunch time mile plus. Gorgeous
    isn't it?

It's all Dr. Seuss all the time this weekend as I gear up for the big celebration next week. I'm making a Cat in the Hat costume and dressing up for both days of story times. And, g-pa and I are making mini-Thing cupcakes on Sunday. I think I am probably more excited than the kids are. :-) Have an awesome weekend everyone!!!

Mission #8

Mission #8

Last week's mission was to spend some quality time with someone you haven't seen in a while.

Last weekend, I had the awesome opportunity to spend quality time with my high school best friend. She is a HUGE fan of live plays, so after church on Sunday, she and I set off to a local college to see a student production of Zach Braff's freshman play All New People.

My friend and I had an absolute blast! First in trying to find the itty bitty theatre. And then, laughing it up during the play and on the way back home. It was so nice having the opportunity to hang out with her again. :-)

Mission #9: Purchase a food item (or food items) to donate to a food pantry.

High Five For Friday!!!

High Five For Friday!!!

Hello Friday. Why it is that when the week is shorter, it takes that much longer for you to get here I will never know. Regardless, it's been quite the week. Filled with family, the GA, and fun times. Here are some of the highlights:

1. Dually celebrated the birthday and my sister's fiancé's birthday with my
sister, her fiancé, my niece, and grandparents on Valentine's Day. Now, I'm
not a huge sweets person at all, but my sister made these amazing
strawberry cheesecake cupcakes that were so cute and crazy delicious.

2. Spent the weekend in Georgia with my folks, siblings, and my cuzzos. It was
so relaxing. We went for a walk on Saturday and on our walk we found these
old barns, house steps, and this gorgeous tree. I LOVE THIS TREE!!!

3. One more thing about Georgia...in the little town near where my family
moved, there are these beautiful murals on the sides of the buildings
downtown. Can't wait to have the opportunity to walk downtown to see them
    all.

4. Finished my February book, Inhuman, by Kat Falls. I thought the book was
going to be about zombies (any book that uses the terms "quarantine" and
"Feral Zone" in the teaser screams zombie), but nope, it had a really
    interesting "infected" twist.

5. I know that I've mentioned before that I have one of the most awesome
coworkers E-V-E-R...well, that awesome co-worker got me a "Congrats"
present to celebrate the big promotion. We've even named the little plant
   "Etchy."

Mission #7

Mission #7

Last week's Mission #6 was to take the time to leave a nice comment on a blog you enjoyed. While blog hopping, I found this delicious looking soup on Blonde Granola Mama. I commented on her post and got the recipe for "Panera" Broccoli Cheese Soup. Can't wait to try my lack of culinary skills to make it. Maybe I'll have some good luck and some good work lunches for next week. ;-)

High Five For Friday!!!

High Five For Friday!!!

Happy Friday and Happy Valentine's Day!!! Heading to GA this weekend to visit my family and celebrate my birthday!!! Can't wait to get going!!! That being said, here are my top five from the past week (Warning: It's heavy on birthday, Valentine's Day, and other celebrations.):

1. I got a promotion!!! I am a Librarian I (Jack of ALL Library Trades)!!! I still
can't believe it!!! I'm expected to "start" the day after the President's Day
holiday!!! Happy Birthday to me!!! Totally checking that off of my 14 in 2014
    list!!!

2. Leaving for GA this evening!!! Can't wait to get on the road to celebrate the
BIG promotion and my birthday weekend with the fam this weekend!!!

3. Spent last weekend making Valentines for my friends and family. Here's a
couple of samples of what I (with the help of Pinterest and Youtube) was able
to come up with. Cute huh?

4. Treated myself to a nice (FREE) birthday sub from Firehouse Subs Thursday
before cheer practice. Yay for birthday freebies!!!

5. Got a chance to do a mile plus lunch hour walk four out of four work days this
week. I feel so lucky to work at a library that backs up to nice and secure
apartment complexes and live in a state that is sunny (most of the time) so I
can do things like get in a mile plus walk during lunch. :-)

Have an awesome (and safe) President's Day weekend!!!

Mission #6

Mission #6

"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted."
Aesop, The Lion and the Mouse

Last week's kindness mission to let someone go in front of you in line. Even though it was a small task, the simple smile and "thank you" that the person gave reminded me that "no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted."

Mission #5: Completed.

Mission #6: Take the time to leave a nice comment on a blog you enjoyed.

High Five For Friday!!!

High Five For Friday!!!

Hello Friday!!! The first Friday of February and the first Friday for three weeks that I don't have to work on Saturday!!! So, hello actual weekend!!! Today, I'm linking up with Lauren Elizabeth to bring to you my top five of the past week.

1. Rode to The Big GA with the fam on Friday to help them move and to see
their new house and quasi-explore their new town. It's so quaint and cute
and rural and slow. Couldn't get a lot of pics, but I'll be back up there for the
whole weekend in a couple of weeks and I'm hoping to get a lot of good ones
    then.

2. Got my license renewed on Monday. Completely painless. Yay for having a
cousin that works for the tax collector and can get you in as the first
appointment on the unofficial opening day of the county's test office. For
no wait and no hassle, I will totally be a guinea pig.

3. Made the samples of next week's Valentine's-themed story time crafts. The
candy machine is for my preschool story time and the ladybug, which I like to
call the "love bug," is for my baby and toddler story time. Can't wait to see
    what the kids can do.

4. Couponed again this week and scored BIG with shampoo and deodorant
clearances at my fav grocery store. Purchased ALL of this for a whopping
    $2.71. :-)

5. Finished the week out by getting my taxes done. Not uber exciting, but it was
something I could get off of my to do list.

Mission #5

Mission #5

Happy Monday!!! Back to the regularly scheduled program after the weekend and the share-ation of the results of Mission #4: Show appreciation toward your co-worker(s).

I must say that I am so lucky to have the B-E-S-T co-worker E-V-E-R in my department. Okay, it IS just the two of us in the youth services department at the library where I work, but that's not the point. The point is that my co-worker is beyond awesome. We have SO MUCH FUN, but we still get our work done. And, she gets my nutso self and my crazy humor. She happens to have the same nutso-ness and crazy humor that I have. There aren't even words to describe what that means to me.

She is also a chocoholic. "Loves chocolate" is putting it mild compared to her relationship with the staple. It's her therapy. It's her way of getting through the craziness of the day (and putting up with the craziness that is me). Sooo, to show appreciation for my amazingly awesome youth services co-worker, I picked her up some chocolate and put them in a gift bag (a Target reusable bit tote because she's been wanting one). Here's how it came out:

High Five For Friday!!!

High Five For Friday!!!

Oh Friday, how I've missed you!!! Not that I'm hating on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. It's just sooo nice to see YOU. In celebration of you, I'm linking up with Lauren Elizabeth to share my weekly top five!!!

1. Totally won my first blog giveaway this week!!! I won an Elegant Oils Care
Package from Giveaways Mom!!! So! Freaking! Exciting! Can't wait to get the
    package!

2. Got a head start on valentines for my little cheerleaders. Found a really cute
Kool-Aid valentine that would be muy perfecto for their practice drinks.

3. Got back into couponing this week and thoroughly and completely nailed it if
I may say so myself. Got two Schick Hydro Silk® disposable 3-packs for
-$0.76. (And, stocked up on other essentials for super super SUPER cheap.
    TGFC!!!)

4. Brought these guys to work this week fulfilling my vision all those years ago
of having stuffed children's literary characters encompassing my office. (Yay
for children's library jobs!!! Now just waiting for an actual children's librarian
    gig.)

5. So surprised and so very proud of myself for continuing to maintain Keeping
Up With KC. One month down, eleven more to go. January was beyond crazy
with ALL of the hurry up changes and complete nutso-ness. Can't wait to see
what February and the rest of the year have in store.
